The Drop Bear is small in size, and is mostly dark grey. It has sharp grey claws on its front paws, with a tinge of white at the bottom of its arms. It walks on all four legs, with its back legs being longer than its front. It has a white belly and white ears with frills at the end of each. Its head is wide, and features eyes that give a menacing feel, a round nose and a pink mouth with sharp white teeth.
The Drop Bear's name and appearance is based off the myth of the drop bear, rumoured to jump off trees and consume people and animals travelling through the Outback, the harsh desert centre of Australia.
When European settlers observed koalas, they believed that they were the 'drop bears' that had been the cause behind disappearances in the Outback. The description plays on this.
